We both have planning on the
brain this week and talk about Proactive Mode vs. Reactive Mode
when it comes to our diets, businesses, and life.
John has already had a morning!
And he even has a realization halfway through the episode and
remembers to breathe. He also wants to create a #Lifing
Toolbox.
Emily changes her schedule and
has some adjusting to do. This may or may not be affecting her
weight. We’ll see!
We also talk a lot about the
importance of planning, including how we plan. Emily walks us
through her weekly and daily planning and journaling routine, as
well.

kids!” — Emily

Meet Your Hosts:
- John
Bukenas is a podcast editor from New Jersey. He started the podcast doing
keto and intermittent fasting, but is now gearing up for bariatric
surgery (probably) later this summer.
- Emily
Prokop is a podcast editor and consultant
from Connecticut. She has been
doing Intermittent Fasting since April 2018 and has lost about 70
pounds. She started with 16:8 and is now doing 18:6.
In This Episode:
- John
has already had a morning!
- John
has adjusted his Eating Window for his Intermittent Fasting to One
Meal a Day.
- Emily’s tip: Follow hashtags for the diet
you’re doing on Instagram and Twitter so you get inspiration
throughout the day.
- We
can’t do math on a podcast! Our usual joke is 2+2=Chicken (Emily
wants you to know she was once a math tutor, she
swears!)
- What
is your moment of #ImNotEvenSorry? Post it in the group or tag us
if you’re following us on social media.
- John
realizes he’s in Reactive Mode all the time!
- If
you’re reading this, take a deep breath! It’ll feel good, we
promise ;)
- We
start talking about how we organize ourselves during the day. Emily
is very Writey-Downey, are you?
- We
know we do so much better when we set up a plan, even if we end up
having to throw it out the window if something happens.
- John
walks us through how his brain lies to him — can you
relate?
- We
talk a lot about planning in this episode and different methods,
including writing things down and a deep look at Emily’s weekly and
daily writing/planning routines.
- “Limited Time” gets us every time!
- Emily
has realized that her toddler turns her brain to mush by the end of
the day and has to adjust her whole schedule.
- Emily’s porn is counting down to when preschool
begins, for sure.
- She’s
going to bed earlier and waking up earlier, when she can have time
to herself to plan before anyone wakes up and puts her in reactive
mode.
- We
both realize we need to find a release that’s not food.
- John
needs a Lifing Toolbox!
- 33:06
Emily breaks down her morning pages and how she plans her day.
(Thanks for the question, Craig!)
- She
starts with Morning Pages: 3 pages of freewriting, from the book
“The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron; Then she does a to-do list in
a bullet journal style, but separates it into three sections:
Self-Care, Work, and Home & Family.
- Thanks to the Business Fabulous Podcast for
giving me the idea to put stickers in my notebook! -
Emily
- Emily
can’t wait to miss her kids!
- We
have some AMAZING #WinningWednesday posts!
- Do
you have an audio drama or storytelling podcast you like? Let John
know!
- John’s therapist says food addiction is the
slowest, more painful way to kill yourself. Wow! It’s so sad and
true!
- Emily
has been doing daily yoga for more than a year now!
- John
is so quotable!
- In
case you’re new to the show, when Emily refers to Shark Week, she’s
referring to her period.
- Later, Weighters!
